What is a breathing air system?

A breathing air system delivers clean, breathable air to people working in hazardous or enclosed environments. Compressed air used for breathing must meet air quality standards such as AS/NZS 1715 and AS 2299, which limit contaminants like carbon monoxide, oil, water and particulates.

Breathing air testing is carried out on site, at the point where the air is used, and can be scheduled with your next compressor service to save a visit. Who needs breathing air testing?

Any workplace where people breathe compressed air through supplied-air respirators or hoods, such as spray painting, abrasive blasting and confined space work.

What does a breathing air test check for?

The test measures contaminants in the air supply, such as carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, oil and moisture, against the limits in the Australian Standard.

How often should breathing air be tested?

Test at regular intervals, and again after any change to the system such as a new compressor, a filter change or relocating equipment. We can advise on a testing schedule for your site.

Is the testing done on site?

Yes. We test at your premises, at the point where the air is used, anywhere in NSW.

What do I receive after the test?

A written test report for each point tested, for your safety records.

What happens if the air fails the test?

We find the cause and fix it. That can mean servicing or replacing filtration, or supplying a new breathing air system.
